OpenLMS Teachers Manual
This manual walks MNTS teachers through setting up a course in OpenLMS, managing weekly instruction, reviewing student work, and administering end-of-semester assessments.
Initial Setup
1
Request course access
Download the student enrollment Excel template from the OpenLMS access page. Fill in the First Name, Last Name, and Gmail of every student and yourself. Email the completed template from your Gmail to openlms@mntamilschool.org.
2
Wait for course setup (5–7 days)
MNTS will create the semester courses in OpenLMS and provision accounts for you and all listed students. You will receive a confirmation at your Gmail once the setup is complete.
3
Log in with Google OAuth
Go to openlms.mntamilschool.org and sign in with your Gmail account via 'Login with Google'. You will see your assigned course(s) on the teacher dashboard.
4
Familiarise yourself with the course
Browse your semester course. Review weekly topics, all LSRW activities, and the built-in semester assessment. Complete at least one activity yourself to understand the student experience.
Weekly Responsibilities
Assign the week's topic
Each Monday (or before class), make the current week's topic visible to students. Topics are pre-built — no content authoring required.
Review speaking submissions
Students upload audio/video recordings for speaking tasks. Review them in the assignment submission view and leave written or audio feedback.
Review writing submissions
Grade written submissions using the built-in rubric or free-form feedback. A short personalised comment improves student retention significantly.
Monitor the gradebook
The gradebook shows completion and scores for each student in real time. Use it to identify students falling behind before the end of the week.
Track attendance
Mark attendance in the attendance register within each course session. This feeds the end-of-year progress report.
Run real-time quizzes (optional)
H5P activities can be used for live in-class quizzes. Share your screen and work through them together, or assign as independent practice.
End-of-Semester Assessment
Each semester course includes built-in LSRW assessments. Administer the assessment by unlocking the assessment section at the end of the semester. Student results are captured in the gradebook automatically. For paper-based or guest-access models, email coursedirector@mntamilschool.org once per semester to request printed assessment materials.
