MNTS Tamil School is run entirely by volunteers. Our 50+ teachers and staff bring extraordinary dedication and professional qualifications to Tamil language education — most with advanced training in language pedagogy, assessment, and linguistics.
Qualifications & achievements
- 22+ teachers hold a 3-year Tamil BA (Bachelor of Arts in Tamil Linguistics) from Tanjore Tamil University via Tamil Virtual Academy — the first US Tamil school to reach this milestone.
- 7 ACTFL-certified raters for all four LSRW skills — a first for Tamil in the US.
- 30+ teachers trained in Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA).
- 10 teachers completed MDE Assessor/Rater training aligned with ACTFL guidelines.
- Teachers helped develop the official Tamil Bilingual Seal assessments used statewide by the MN Department of Education.
